Realities & Trivialities

It’s a strange and wonderful moment when you realize that you have become to feel at home in a place that used to be entirely foreign.

When our bus pulled between the Church of Our Lady and the University of Copenhagen last night in the pouring rain, my first thought was “We’re home!” only to be followed closely by, “Is this home?”

It’s hard to believe it was only three days ago that my class set off on our short study tour to southern Denmark and the German border.  Our time was completely filled with things to see and people to meet.

Monday morning we attended a short lecture about the Danish welfare system.  Although this was the hundredth lecture of its type that we have listened to since arriving in Copenhagen, the Danish health care system and socialist medicine continues to baffle us American students.  I still find it…
